An 1900 era Leavenworth sermon scorns Cleveland, Wilson and party hypocrisy. The preacher denounces liquor influence in politics, blasting both major parties and praising prohibition while recounting later reform talk and voter passions amid a crowded audience.
A political row surfaces as Senator Dum Dani from his ranch comments on Newland aviation factions and party courage. He urges Republicans to push bills in the winter legislature while criticizing opposing factions for cowardice and loyalty to the Goren faction.
A Garnett retailer extolls BostTax Stout as the most enterprising and popular shop. The ad claims extra Dress Goods bargains for a few days and notes a new stock opened with low prices on gloves mittens boots shoes and rubber goods, inviting patronage against competition.
Ton STORD Veecwerts offers a large stock of toys in great variety for sale at any price to clear the entire stock. Also a line of toilet sets and albums sold at cost or less, urging customers to buy for children at little money.
Repairs continue on the Lone Elm residence as residents engage in daily tasks. A Scott company placed a monument at Thos Foster’s Lone Elm Cemetery grave last Friday costing 100 dollars. Scranton buys property formerly owned by Lt. Reeve in Lone Jim and acquires six lots north of Shockey’s store with adjoining 40 acres and 6 more south of Levi Byerly’s farm. Several locals including Carpenter from Diamond visit, and May Webber, Myers, and others stop by Lone Hild. McDowell ships stock. Lewis rents Edwant Scranton property. Caldwell plans to build on farm. Balcolm from Greeley calls in. Conway moves billiard setup to El Dorado Springs. Brooks from Greeley visits with family. Mrs. Lee Russell from Sugar Valley visits. Mrs. H K Robinson travels from Baldwin to visit daughters. George Page visits from Laredo, Texas. Cooper returns to Peoria, Illinois. Col Bouck of Greeley visits. Ambrose and A R E Post members honor Garnett post.
