A long patriotic poem by A. Edgerton published in the Denver News extols the common working people as the nation’s true strength. It envisions democracy growing from frontier labor, self-reliance, and the unity of labor across sectors. The speaker declares the people as the nobles and proclaims a future led by the People.
Governor Stanley sends a school program for Kansas and McKinley Day on January 20. Students may contribute to a memorial fund for William McKinley. Activities include choruses, addresses, biographies, recitations of Gettysburg Address, patriotic quotations, essays on our government, songs, and a fund collection.

Rumor of Rev R I Hicks death is false as he reports strong health and a record year. He completed a large Alvanic for 1902 and with helpers secured international notice for Word and Works. His forecasts saved crops and his Almanac costs 25 cents with the family journal at one dollar a year from Sendford and Works Pub Co, St. Louis.
The New York World argues it is the most read paper in America offering constant news plus series stories at a low price. It claims impartial coverage of all news and appeals to both Republicans and Democrats. A one year subscription costs 1.65 for the World and another paper, with two papers totaling 2.00.
An advertisement touts CURG A COLD IN ONE DAY with Laxative Bromo Quinine Tablets from druggists. Grove's signature appears on each box and Dr Kay promotes Renovator for dyspepsia liver and as a system renovator. Prices listed 26c 50c and 1.00.
Plymouth Rock cockerels offered by Mrs J M Alexander near Welda Kansas two mules east and two miles south of Welda. Also an advertisement for Dr Kay's Renovator and testimonials by Rev J G Standard and Adam Nehr describing health benefits. Terms include no charge for view and drug details with locations in Saratoga New York and Ga.
The December issue of Every Where, a Brooklyn based magazine, claims to prove it is possible to publish a strictly first class magazine for fifty cents a year. It features short, pointed articles with real human interest and reader appeal.
Markets and financial intelligence feature in The Kicago Record-Herald with extensive live stock, grain, provisions, stocks and bonds coverage. An advertisement touts Dr Kay's Lang Balm promising quick cure for coughs and lung pain, sold by druggists or mailed from Saratoga New York.
