State Fire Marshal G N Holton urges all Parent-Teacher Associations to observe Fire Prevention Week October 3-9 and for the public to cooperate. Texas 1925 fire losses include 284 deaths and 25 million dollars in damage with 85 percent of fires preventable, 60 percent in homes. Local PTA seeks action to remove fire hazards, inspect flues, clean premises, store gasoline and kerosene safely, and stress proper matches and cigarette disposal. A fire prevention program will follow at the next PTA meeting with posters and a school wide fire drill.
