Local Wool Shipments Surge Amid Strong Market
The Junction Cattle Loan Company reports shipments of spring wool reaching about 125000 pounds this week with most contracts filled. Schreiner Wool and Mohair Commission Co of Kerrville rejected bids at a sealed sale as the wool market holds firm and prices rise. Nelson Johnson and Albert Schneider bought 150000 pounds of lamb wool from the Gibbons estate near Richland Springs at 33 to 38 cents. The USDA noted a large part of the domestic clip sold at eight year highs as global demand stays strong. Domestic consumption in early 1937 reached its highest in 14 years with no sign of slackening.
