A&M Scholarships At Junction High School Noted
The principal received this week an announcement and application form for the 1950 Opportunity Awards scholarship competition of A M College. Four-year scholarships paying $200 to $400 yearly aid outstanding able students in need of financial help. Bobby Joe Ragsdale, Junction High School graduate, now attends A M College as a previous winner.

Man reels in 35-pound catfish on South Llano
Charley Henderson displayed a 35 pound catfish caught with an ordinary rod and reel. The 45 inch fish needed a lengthy fight before it was landed Tuesday morning on the South Llano River.

Junction Eagles trackmen will compete in Brady with a practice meet in Brady Tullesdy. Ray Curtis excelled in the mile and Hilmer Schultz in the high hurdles at a prior meet. The mile relay team clocked strong times. March events include Brady Relays on March 18 and Pearsall Invitational on March 24. District Meet in Ozona on April 15 advances to Region in Ozona, then the state meet in Austin May 5 and 6.

Funeral services for Martin Alfred Nelson 58 Rocksprings garage owner and Hill Country native were held March 2 at Rocksprings Baptist Church. Burial followed in Barksdale cemetery. Born January 18 1892 in Barksdale he lived in Rocksprings 30 years. He died after illness at his home March 1. Survived by widow daughter Jensie Faulkner one grandson one sister three brothers and three step-sons. Pallbearers listed.

Pratt Infant Dies at Rocksprings Cemetery
Graveside funeral services were held for the infant son of Dr. and Mrs. Frank H. Pratt at Rock Springs Cemetery. The day-old child died at Rocksprings Memorial Hospital, born Tuesday December 28 at 12:11 a.m. Parents and two sisters survive. Dr. Pratt serves on the staff of the new Rocksprings hospital.

The Rev C Ellis of the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary will be guest minister Sunday morning at the Presbyterian Church of Junction. A noted youth worker, he previously spoke here in November and has led Presbyterian youth efforts in the South. He taught at Austin Seminary and pursued a UT education degree before joining the seminary staff in 1948.

Girl Is Charged In Hit Run Case
Absentee voting in the city election on April 4 begins March 10 and runs through March 31. Mayor Hendrix says aldermen will be elected to fill expiring terms, with several candidates running and Joe Baker facing Clarence Self for marshall. Polls open 8 am to 6 pm at the courthouse with Leamons as judge and two clerks. Also, Betty Lou Bolt, 16, released on $500 bond after being charged with failure to stop after an accident in a separate case. The incident involved a car and a motorbike on Main and Fifteenth Streets. Roy Welch, 16, suffered a fractured leg. Mrs Bolt is newly married to Donnie Bolt.
