A Junction Eagle feature by I C Main Street shares humorous notes from Junction including a ten year old desk lamp story, a catfish found in a tree by So Llano workers, local fishers, party misadventure with Jack Denman, and injuries from a rooter plow.
Plans are complete for a men banquet and brotherhood meeting at Junction Baptist Church Friday at eight in the church dining room. Visiting speakers A B Burton and E B Henry of Kerrville, plus local speakers, will give messages. The goal is to form a laymen's brotherhood. all men 18 to 100 are invited to attend and dine.
Luke Hagood of Menard attended a community function as a visitor yesterday evening. He joined local residents and officials at the event, sharing in the program and activities.
The Junc tion Cemetery faces extra work and costs from recent graves settling after heavy rains. Mrs. E. M. Burt and Mrs. T. B. Phillips urge donations to cover pressing needs. only graves of those with paid 1935 dues will be cared for after July 1. Contributions to Burt or Phillips, mail accepted from out of Kimble County, list of dues paid includes many local residents. Continued on last page.
Preparations are complete for Brady's 10th annual July Jubilee and Race Meet and Rodeo on July 3 4 and 5. Races and rodeo start at 2 PM daily with five running events and intermission rodeo features including a horseback cowboy basketball game. Free entertainment fills Richards Park with carnivals political speaks music and moving pictures.
Farmers report ten days to work crops and save grain not washed away by floods two weeks ago. Ranges and livestock flourish and most are happy though some losses remain. Rain is needed to finish corn crops.
By unanimous vote the City Council adopted a resolution to sue if needed on all delinquent city taxes through 1932. On August 1 the tax rolls for 1928 to 1932 will be turned to an attorney for collection. Mayor Wright said the action protects taxpayers and aims to settle the delinquent tax issue promptly.
West Texas Utilities crews reached Junction after flood waters subsided and assisted restoring water service. The city water plant had been inundated and pumping equipment damaged, delaying repairs. An electric motor was supplied to aid the restoration efforts.
Kimble County rests under shock as D D Parker and wife Lela Parker die in a double tragedy at the ranch home of Mrs Weldon. A note to a brother hints a suicide pact. The Parker children Louise Gene Worth and the baby girl aged four survive.
National Red Cross sent R T Bridge from St Louis to lead relief for Kimble County flood victims. He arrived last Thursday and a local chapter meeting planned immediate aid, stating the effort is relief not charity.
An old West Texas traveler recalls floods and storms moving from Monterrey to Junction and San Antonio. He describes driving through flooded rivers and impassable roads, sheltering at Fort Sam Houston, and using Army Amateur Radio to contact Junction amid the siege of weather and road closures.
All available relief labor has been used since the flood. Workers burn carrion within ten miles of the junction and repair the City Water Works pumping system. Some labor salvages cannery materials and lumber scattered by the high water.
Both circles of the Baptist W M S will hold a business meeting at the church Friday afternoon at 4 o clock.
