College Street Church of Christ Meeting Closes
Increased attendance and mounting interest capped an eight day protracted meeting at the College Street Church of Christ where Forrest R. Waldrop of Abilene preached 18 sermons ending Sunday night. The congregation was edified and visitors strengthened in the gospel as Miss Oleta Kirkpatrick was baptized Saturday. Walter W. Leamons and others noted a growing spirit and attendance, including a Sunday barbecue in the basement. Waldrop, a 21 year veteran preacher, and his wife moved to Abilene to support their children’s education at ACC. He is ACC alumni and former College quartet singer. He began preaching in Hawley and soon moved to local work after graduation. Officials praised visiting ministers for their reception by members and the community.
