Birthplace Tablet Honors Hymn Writer at UGI Building
The United Gas Improvement Company of Philadelphia will erect a tablet on its Broad Street building marking the birthplace of the hymn He Leadeth Me. Rev Dr Joseph H Gillmore wrote the verse in 1862 at the Wattson home, later site of the new office. The company, noting the author was the son of a New Hampshire governor, issued the memorial on June 1, 1926. Fire loss data from 279 cities show 28 percent had no loss during Fire Prevention Week, with 80 cities reporting zero burn risk and others incurring small losses.
