The Upper Llanos Soil Conservation District Board met at the Howard Rothmann ranch and approved cooperative plans covering 4 836 acres and applications for 12 720 acres. A group tour noted range in good to excellent condition with lambs and calves described as fat. Notes from H H Lawler ranch highlighted substantial range improvement and deferment grazing. Terrace lines were laid on a 16 acre Arthur Schulze field to conserve soil and moisture.

Built to specifications adopted by the Upper Llanos Soil Conservation District Supervisors these recommended terraces are constructed with sufficient body to permit farming the terraces with implements used by the rancher. Wide farmable terraces eliminate a seed source for weeds and allow farming the most productive part of the field.
Margaret Davis of Junction is listed among about 450 candidates for degrees to be conferred at the Southwest Texas State Teachers College graduation ceremonies on August 24. Miss Davis is a candidate for a master's degree.
Don Reed who had a foot operation in San Angelo last week left the hospital on Thursday evening and returned to the ranch seeking rest and recovery away from medical care.
