Texas House and Senate propose amendments to Texas Constitution
A long compilation of proposed constitutional amendments sets out changes to sections 48-d and 49-b of Article III, adding rural fire prevention districts with up to 50 cent ad valorem tax, expanding Veterans' Land Fund bonds to 100 million, and broader old age, blind and needy aid provisions. It also adds a statewide retirement system for county officials and allows the Permanent University Fund to invest in additional securities with limits. Elections are scheduled for November 1951.
