Children sing at Joliet municipal Christmas tree festival
About 300 pupils from Woodlawn Longfellow and Richards street schools will perform Christmas carols Wednesday night around the courthouse square. The event, arranged by The Free Press with Sheriff Thomas Stevenson’s permission, will be nongift giving and open to all. Ministers plan to promote participation and the tree will be lit with 500 lights by Public Service Co. The celebration runs 8 to 10 pm, with parents present and teachers supervising the children.
