Joliet prepares for the annual Retail Merchants Association of Illinois convention in Springfield June 19 to 22 with delegates James Lyons J O Barrett and Anton Schager. Schager will speak at the secretaries assembly on June 20. The Chicago Ad Club hosts a Luncheon for Associated Advertising Club of the World delegates in the Morrison hotel cameo room with Joliet and Chicago attendees joining a special train to Atlanta arriving Sunday noon.
London reports Swedish police uncovered a plot by foreign bolshevists to incite revolts in Sweden Norway and Finland. Five former Finnish Guard members were arrested and documents seized in Stockholm indicating infiltrators have arrived in Sweden. Authorities are expelling the foreign agitators.
Members of Joliet Township High School Band last night presented director A. R. McAllister with a Masonic charm as token of appreciation for his efforts during the past year. The presentation occurred during a plancheon held in McAllister's honor at Snapp's, as band members plan their stay at Camp Creuts where they have been chosen as the official band.
Mrs Frank E Donley aged 60 dies after a long illness at 7 30 pm at home 1200 West Jefferson street. Funeral services will be at the residence at 6 pm Saturday with interment in the family plot. The deceased was for 25 years a resident and was connected with the Grand Union Tea Company.
Mrs. Lucero, former Joliet resident, arrested in Chicago and brought to Joliet. Charged with defrauding two Joliet furniture stores of about $1000 by shipping furniture to Chicago and disappearing. Police found rifles, ammunition, and counterfeit stamps at her home. Husband faces bootlegging charges. Hearing set for June 20 before Justice Hawk.
Joe Petrovich of 541 Noble Street says he will plead guilty tomorrow before Judge Cowing for driving a truck loaded with six kegs of beer seized by sheriff's forces Wednesday night. He served in France during the war. The beer will be analyzed later, one keg remains at the sheriff's office and the rest locked in the county jail. The owners did not know the truck was borrowed, so no prosecution at that end is planned.
Will Roth of 402 Ohio Street was brought before Justice McCulloch charged with fraud. He was arrested on a complaint by George Vollmer who runs a garage at 601 Bridge Street. Vollmer said Roth sold him an Oakland roadster for 450 dollars, with a mortgage held by Crownover Townsend Company at 638 Cass Street for 600 dollars. The case is set for trial Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Justice McCulloch's court.
The six week summer school opens at the high school on June 20 with 400 registrations received and an estimated 650 attendees, a 60 percent rise from last year. Assistant principal Ralph Bush will lead, aided by teachers in English, history, geography, math, manual training, botany, and a librarian, with a long list of instructors named.

Three armed bandits robbed James Neal in Pittsburgh during a daytime heist at a major department store. They seized a bag containing $50,000, fired on pursuing clerks and police, Neal was shot in the abdomen, two bandits fled in a waiting car with the money, and one bandit was captured.
Polish insurgents who seized Tarnowitz in Upper Silesia amid an armored train bombardment are organizing to resist Allied occupation. Trenches are being dug around Tarnowitz and a battle is anticipated in Beuthen district as civilians flee Beuthen for Opplen.
Kansas City June 10 United States District Attorney Fred Robertson released 19 SWW members from Leavenworth prison on Attorney General Harry Daughertys instruction. They were to appear on appeal bonds before the United States court but their cases have been dropped.
A Joliet group of 150 prominent Hebrews announces erection of a new Jewish synagogue with Dr. H Siskin named Rabbi and B Naim Sholom as the temple name. An inaugural Pentecost service June 12 will be led by Rabbi Siskin. A modern Hebrew school will be established with services weekly in the Orpheum hall. The project is funded by M A Felman L M Rubens and others with carpet and curtain donations from Mrs Felman and the Ladies Society.
Mary Wise wife of Louis Wise saloonist at 200 Jackson Street petitions in circuit court for separate maintenance and an injunction restraining disposal of property valued at 10000. Married August 13, 1907 she claims cruel treatment and seeks 5000 with attorney J W Faulkner.

The United States railway labor board in Chicago will hear Pullman Company petitions for a general wage reduction for all employees.
