The Baby Vamp case collapsed as Justice J L McCulloch fined John Markham a 16 year old youth who was suspected of abducting Helen Witting 15 for adventures in the woods. Charges were reduced to disorderly conduct and costs were assessed. Helen, living in Chicago with grandparents, continues schooling. County Judge Cowing has a delinquency petition under advisement.
Automobile damage occurred when a car driven by Joss Hickory hit a truck at Clinton and Chicago streets. Joe Tintare signed a waiver for 7.25 dollars for cutting a corner. Gari E. Beilharz of 711 Third Avenue was arrested by Policeman Balbont.
Joliet Moose lodge reports 214 new members over the past year and assets up by 14 000 dollars bringing totals to 1978 members and twenty million dollars in assets including Mooseheart property. Fourteen initiates last night and plans to resume Grand Theatre Bldg improvements. International Moose totals reach 552 713 members with a 15 610 gain for the year. Relatives of Michael Fenton formerly of Joliet have stopped hoping for his survival after a telegram from his son Joe to John Fenton in Joliet last night. Fenton, 15 years a Pueblo resident, was working outside Pueblo when the flood struck and has not been heard from since.

In Arkansas six men sentenced for the Elaine race riots were granted a stay pending habeas corpus. A U S marine corps plane crashed into the Potomac with pilot Lieutenant Brown killed and Sergeant Bugby rescued. In California Mr and Mrs William Steele were found dead after a fire, believed attacked by bandits. In New York Col William Hester, Brooklyn Daily Eagle president, has died. In Europe twelve German volunteers killed in Upper Silesia with ongoing Polish artillery shelling Ratibon. In St Louis the 1922 International Association of Chiefs of Police meet to be held in San Francisco. In London a draft treaty between Eamon de Valera and the Soviet government was published.
Jesus Orosco, father of 14 year old Tlita Orosco, appeals to Joliet police after his daughter vanished Monday night amid allegations she was abducted by her Mexican suitor Tony Rosiles, 30. Neighbors said Tlita had accepted Rosiles’ attention and Rosiles left his boarding house before authorities were notified.
Harwood Post No 5 of the American Legion will arrange a fitting observance of Flag Day June 14 in Joliet, in addition to school exercises. The nationwide Legion program seeks to promote respect for the flag and patriotic activities through local posts and communities.

Ernest Hettman is held as a suspect amid questions about the victim’s large cash hoards and a mysterious woman. Authorities seek to tighten circumstantial evidence and press for a confession while Hettman remains incommunicado in county jail.
