Mary Policandreotes the 15 year old Greek girl abducted last November from her parents home on Midland avenue is married to William Fillideo based on a letter she wrote from Chicago. A warrant for her abductor is with Sheriff James Newkirk. Parents believe she remains away from Joliet to avoid prosecution of her husband.

Cleopatra Brown Hurtzman known as the country vamp escaped from the Illinois state penitentiary women’s prison yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock. She had been serving one year to life for luring men to a boarding house where her husband and Joseph Brown robbed them. Matron Grace Fuller called her a model prisoner and capable worker. Last seen in prison kitchen garb during dinner preparations, the escape is a rare event in the institution’s history.
Beer contained in 25 barrels taken Saturday night from 4 trucks on the Lockport road. Sheriff Newkirk reported five and six per cent alcohol in the confiscated beer. The case was expected before Judge Cowing of the county court later this afternoon. Men found on the truck, Gregory Mack Leo Wise and John Smith, were at liberty in Joliet. The truck belonged to Abe Kristal of Rockdale.
Chicago police identified a Lemont canal victim as Albert Gozzolo. His body was recovered May 29 after he left his home at 3302 South Western Avenue, Chicago, on May 22. An inquest was planned.
John Koenig of 1202 Clement Street died at St Joseph's Hospital after a 20 foot ground fall from a ladder at General Refractories where he worked as a carpenter. An inquest was set for 5 pm at Chamberlin Sloan with Koenig survived by his widow seven sons and two daughters. Funeral planned for Saturday at St Johns Catholic Church.
Dr W R Fletcher of Joliet will be unopposed for the office of President of the Illinois Elks Association in 1922. Joliet Lodge No 296 members, who attended the state convention in Belleville, reported there were no efforts to land other offices this year and received undivided support for Fletcher.
Coroner Kingston of Lockport will hold an inquest tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. to determine the death cause of an unidentified man murdered and found in the Sanitary District canal Saturday night. The inquest will take place at the Co. L Miller undertaking establishment where the body was taken after discovery by sanitary district policeman John Johnson.
Two of the world’s largest high voltage transformers were shipped from the local branch of a major electrical manufacturer to West Pittsfield Massachusetts. One unit is destined for a city plant named Cal and the other for a mountainous site, details incomplete.
Washington June 2 The administration says anti trust actions will target several open combinations formed by four hundred trade associations still operating after the war under friendly understandings and gentlemen agreements. Justice and Commerce surveys show these groups keep prices and allocations, prompting high living costs while farmers get low prices for their goods. Attorney General Daugherty calls some associations ingenuous and plans prosecutions if needed to dissolve recalcitrant outfits. Farmers lack similar organizations, a key reason for price gaps between what they sell and buy.
Thirty members of Joliet Pressmen's Union No. 111 did not report for work today after receiving official sanction from the international organization to strike over the 44 hour controversy. Four shops are affected: Gerlach-Barklow Co., Joliet Calendar Co., S. A. Brewster & Son, and the Brewster Printing Co. E. A. Brewster said union pressmen were at work in his shop and he had not been notified of a strike.
William H Walters died at his home at 113 Jerome avenue at 11 20 last night. He leaves a wife, a daughter Daisy, two sisters Mrs May Blond and Mrs Hortense Dawson, and is employed at Pratt Malleable Iron Works. The funeral is at 2 30 tomorrow afternoon from the home. Burial follows at Oakwood Cemetery.
Two men who robbed a Drummond Illinois store last night are believed near Joliet after a police phone report. Officers were asked to watch for the burglars as they were last seen fleeing toward Joliet in a car about 8 35 P M. No descriptions were provided to local police.
Lemont police seek Jesse Harding a freckle faced 19 year old five feet nine inch 160 pound youth seen with two suit cases. He is accused of taking 10 dollars from an elderly woman and was last heard of heading toward Joliet to find work. Police request local help.
Mrs Mary A Gorivan aged 75 died at her home 205 Cassiday Avenue at 4 30 yesterday afternoon. She leaves one daughter Helen. The body will be taken home Saturday morning to St Marys Catholic Church at 9 00 for burial in Mt Olivet Cemetery.
County treasurer announces a two per cent penalty on delinquent taxes for those who did not pay by yesterday. Despite the penalty, a large number of delinquents remain, officials say.
Newton L Frazzee of Chicago was placed in charge of the Joliet revenue collector's office succeeding Arthur Barry. The appointment comes under the Cannon administration with Harding ties. Frazzee has worked in Joliet and recently in the Kankakee district while Barry plans unknown future steps.
