Holy Name Meeting Opens Open Air Gatherings At St Mary's
The Holy Name Society of St Marys church held last night on the school grounds on Eastern avenue the first open air meeting with singing dancing and old fashioned dances. Messages were by various members with choral help from the group and music by Attorney John Mann and Thomas F Martin. Funeral services for Mrs Mary Hoye Kern of 120 Union street were held today at 2 pm from the First Christian church, with Rev A L Martin officiating and Oakwood cemetery in Wilmington the burial site.

Verdict Returned In Death Of Lockport Man
A Lockport inquest found Charles G. Ecklund died by asphyxiation in a gas filled room at 302 East Nineteenth Street. No struggle or explanatory motive was shown. Ecklund’s two daughters and one son survive. Funeral held at the Swedish Mission church with burial in Lockport cemetery.

In probate court Judge Drew closed the twenty five year Kahn estate. The will filed March 27 1897, executors last reported July 1922, and all claims settled. Police Rescue 150 From Panic in New York Tube
New York July 7 choked by chlorine gas used in subway panic rescuers including Patrolmen Frederick Norman John Fiegoli and Lieut McGowan improvised gas masks from handkerchiefs and used fire extinguishers to save sixty riders. Norman directed a quiet evacuation from a smoke filled car then led women and older men to the platform two blocks away. Mayor Hylan arrived and sent Norman home after he was overcome. Fiegoli and McGowan aided in guiding women and children to safety through the tunnel to the street. Twenty remain hospitalized with several in critical condition though no deaths expected.
