In Kenwood, 60 year old Policeman William F. McNaughton shot one bandit dead and captured another after a wild auto chase on icy streets. He was to be promoted to sergeant by Chief Fitzmorris. The Callahans were abducted from 4816 Kenwood Ave ahead of a Christmas ball, with Emil Krothen shot in the taxi and bandits firing at the pursuing officer. The captured bandit gave the name Claude Thomas of Seattle, while the dead robber was identified as Carl Gilbert of Omaha.

Auto Case Heard In Circuit Court
Mrs Rebecca Rubens wife of L M Rubens of the Princess theatre is being sued for 100 in circuit court by P J Hastert who claims that on March 20 1920 a car driven by Mrs Rubens struck him causing various and sundry injuries. She said she was driving west on Jefferson St and turned north on Chicago St when a man stepped from between two automobiles far from the street crossing. She applied brakes immediately but struck the man a glancing blow. He almost lost his balance and dropped to one knee. Mrs Rubens opened her car door and asked if he was hurt. He did not reply but went to Mr Rubens office. Mr Rubens said the man told him his clothing was torn and disarranged. Hastert was told that part would be fixed up. The matter was dropped. Mrs Rubens said she was dumbfounded to learn she was being sued and that the plaintiff said he had to be taken home in a police car after the accident. Mr Rubens said he saw the man a half hour later walking down the street in good health, unaided. The case is expected to go to the jury this afternoon. It is in Judge De Selns court. D ER.
