Fire Works Display At Opera House This Evening
Captain Bogardus will give a free fireworks exhibition in front of the Opera House tonight. The display is produced from his gun and is said to be very beautiful. Secret County Poor House Bids Tally and Fatal Dog Attack
This forenoon the Board of Supervisors met in secret to consider bids for the county poor house. Werner and Stage tied at 12 votes each on the first ballot, Werner led with 15 to 9 on the second ballot. An eastbound Rock Island freight train at Scott street struck a parker as two dogs lunged from the Scott Jefferson sidewalk, killing him. The dogs fled.
