Temperance Meeting At Opera House Draws Crowd
Sunday afternoon temperance gathering at the Opera House was largely attended and featured speakers R. E. Barber Rev. Mr. Gunn Dr. Nash and Mr. Wallace. A collection of five dollars was taken to pay the hall rent. A mass meeting is planned for next Sunday afternoon with a rousing program.

On Saturday Mr Perry Hobbs gathered signatures from Joliet business leaders to back a Board of Trade charter for the city. The plan is to form a group modeled after Detroit to benefit Joliet if the charter is granted and properly run. Thief Escapes With Valises After Hotel Watch
Saturday night L George of Chicago checked into the Atkinson House and appeared well dressed. A watch was placed on him after Mrs. Atkinson found him in Peter Mackin's room. He slipped away this morning with two valises full of clothing belonging to Geo Cunningham, Peter Mackin, Mr. Cust, and Mr. Shultz, as officers pursue with a search warrant.
