Local column notes busy day across Lockport area with weather, church socials, railroad work on UC and A line, and community events. Reports include Company B drill, opera house stockholders meeting set for April 30, Odd Fellows banquet, and a large local pledging of funds.
Chief Police O'Brien of Joliet received a Bloomington inquiry about a man named Miller a lawyer five feet six inches tall twenty six years old with a dark complexion. A letter from Brxawarton April 21 1879 asks Joliet to locate George Goodrich who eloped with Dora Edwards and may be living with him as George Leland. The note describes goods moved to Aurora and urges locating the couple. the mother seeks her daughter and promises reward. Chief O'Brien plans to pursue the case in Aurora and promises severe action if found.
Miss Sophia E Tatge marries Louis Rathje at Conrad Tatge’s home with Rt Rev Schuessler officiating. The event, 75 guests, reception, and later departure to Peotone mark a festive city scene. Governor talks on rail lines, judges McRoberts and Goodspeed praised for dispatch and integrity, McRoberts urged for re election, Dr Gray at Mansion House, Bloomington rifle team prep for Chicago contest, and Charles C Warren aims for Ninth Judicial Circuit judgeship.
Chief Justice Millspaugh finally presides over a drunken and disorderly arrest after ten days. William Edgerly of Kansas pleads for leniency as he has found work at $16 a month and board. The judge releases him, citing no money in the case. Dr Speer lectures on China and Chinese in America at Central Presbyterian church, urging interest and noting his missionary experience in China. He argues emigration to the U S is God’s work.
Departed. Utter Bros on Jefferson street shipped bankrupt stock to Watertown Wisconsin. A W Here requests all book accounts closed before May end before leaving for Europe. D P Hendricks visited Joliet and now lives in Chicago. Father Ferris of Pittsburg has left priesthood for the stage. Bloomington lawyers prepare candidates for the judicial race in the district.
Personal from Princeton, Chas C Warren, a candidate for Circuit Judge, called in the city and was praised as a good lawyer and high reputation. He is popular in Bureau county and well regarded at the bar. Warren and Hailey of The Bureau County Republican reviewed the judicial field.

Also notices: German girl wanted for general housework at 54 South Ottawa Street and nursery stock sale at Joliet Nurseries on Joliet and Plainfield road.
