Harper House reveals near original color at BentonvilleBattlefield
At Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site the Harper House received a historically accurate repaint after uncovering the original color through a paint analysis funded by a National Park Service grant. Site manager Colby Stevens and paint historian Susan Buck led the process to strip 17 paint layers and restore the 1850s white.

Couple Found Dead In Garner Home In Suspected Murder Suicide
Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reports two people dead from apparent gunshot wounds in a 10 Chaney Drive Garner residence. Deputies were alerted by a 911 hangup and heard a woman pleading for help during the call. Christopher Pugh, 53, and Teresa Adams-Pugh, 54, were identified as victims.

TLC Buys 330 Acres for Johnston County Park
The Triangle Land Conservancy purchased a 330 acre farm near the Smithfield Four Oaks border for 3.3 million dollars with the county adding 500 thousand. County official Adrian O Neal says a day use park with trails and river connections could open by late 2025. The site already includes two fishing ponds four miles of trails a house a barn and a shelter.
