Town backs plan to revive Howell Theatre
Smithfield moves to preserve the Howell Theatre as a movie and performing arts venue. Tobacco Farm Life Museum joins state cultural resources
Kenly area farm families started the Tobacco Farm Life Museum to share agricultural history. On June 30 it transitioned into a site run by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Susan Barnes, a 40 year volunteer and board member, said the move expands resources and future possibilities. Pamela Cashwell, secretary of the department, called it an important day for the state.
