Modified calendar drew little support in local survey

SMITHFIELD Parents and teachers favored traditional or condensed calendars over a proposed modified year round schedule. Only 29.9 percent chose modified, which would start around Aug 1, while 54.3 percent preferred condensed and 46 percent traditional as a second choice.
