Smithfield council approved rezoning for Noviomagus LLC to convert the former Gabriel Johnston Hotel at Fourth and Johnston into nine two bedroom apartments. The project, planned for May drawings and eventual construction, preserves exterior historic character while allowing some density changes and future expansion.

Ranch Road extension opens to traffic

CLAYTON The new $9.7 million Ranch Road extension to Clayton Boulevard opened to traffic Monday. The project realigned Little Creek Church Road, added a traffic signal, and extends Ranch Road to Rose Street to ease congestion and provide a new commuter route to Interstate 42.

SoDoSoPa Becomes Victory Steakhouse in Smithfield

SoDoSoPa in downtown Smithfield will close as it transforms into Victory Steakhouse named after the former Victory Theater at 146 S Third St. Mike O Dowd says the change aims to revive downtown with a larger dining space, a salad and full drink bar, and high quality beef. The last day open is targeted for month end with lunch service winding down first.
