Mrs Sippel owner of the Guttenberg German Baptist Church building in Union Hill faces a grand jury after Julia Ottwin and George Kerferle are accused of breaking open the doors. Witnesses say Sippel barred worship and the congregation sought to return, with trustees posting bonds of 200 dollars each.
A dispute at 185 Bay Street over a clothesline led to a fight between Murphy and Mrs. O’Neill. Murphy allegedly kicked her twice and she said she was struck with an iron bar. Witnesses testified for both sides. Justice Vustter Hoos bound Murphy over to keep the peace and warned him to stay away from Mrs. O’Neill.
Gustave John Marmelstein of 18 Bistreet and Lucy Robbins of 13 Triity Street Jersey City were married Thursday evening by Justice Heye me of Union Hill. The couple sought secrecy with no witnesses. The reporter present acted as best man and a young woman was invited to attend the bride.
