Fire Destroys Fourth Street Apartment House In blinding blaze
A three story apartment at 224 Fourth Street suffered a severe fire when flames spread from a kitchen sink, driving residents into the street in their night clothes. Police and firemen aided occupants as water thinned between walls, burning the fourth street house completely while the Eric Street building avoided major damage. Estimated loss about 1000 dollars with residents displaced pending insurance settlement. A runaway chemical engine team added to the commotion during firefighting. No injuries reported.
