A woman was crushed in a serious incident that also injured several people, according to initial reports. Police and emergency crews responded to the scene, where bystanders assisted until authorities secured the area and began an investigation.
A tornado toppled the two story brick building at Wiret and Bisomfield, killing a bartender George Koerner and injuring Mrs Bernitt and servant Emma Reisch. Rescuers freed Mrs Bernitt after the collapse and she was taken to Marys Hospital. Police and fire crews evacuated the area as debris filled the street and a crowd gathered.
A Hoboken area disaster left Mra Bernst, Kerner, and Emma Rebek as the only occupants in the building when it collapsed. The Rebek servant escaped with slight injuries. others near the site were accounted for or rescued. Police, led by Captain Hayes, hunted for additional bodies while inspecting surrounding homes and the Bloomfield Street structure. The old hall, linked to a prior tornado, suffered major damage. Norman McAteer and Inspector Steigleiter coordinated rescues and safety moves as fear of further collapse spread among residents. The owner Mra Bernitt faced a court divorce action and the damage was estimated at $10,000.
Edward Donnelly of 150 Grand Street was arraigned in the First Criminal Court on a charge of abandonment brought by his wife Annie. He was ordered to pay her a week. Annie says she met him in a hospital where she nursed him back to health during a critical illness and then married him.
Constable Frank Meyer who wore duty at Piret District Court has returned from a vacation spent at the Van-Amethen Exposition, Niagara and other points. Deputy Water Registrar Daniel Smith also returns from a MA vacation trip, spending most time at Acra in the Covedetita.

Frances Marie Jansen aged seventeen of 72 Highland Avenue Newark lies in Hudson county Jail accused by confidente of bigamy after two marriages in under eight months. Policeman William Anderson lies in critical condition after a gang of loafers attacked him on Highland and Bloomfield avenues Tuesday night as he tried to clear loiterers. Planters say prospects for a profitable season are brighter than ever with abundant oysters and favorable opening conditions. Under the Oyster Commission, thousands of dollars are invested and new grounds are being planted daily. Demand may grow ahead of the season.
Patrolmen reported late night openings at Joseph McGulnapees Plumber shop on Harrison Avenue and John Wattee butcher shop on Jackson Avenue. Investigation showed doors were left unlocked after closing. no items missing.
