West Side Republican John D. Messier, once running a stationery store near West Side and Virginia, has vanished and is not heard from weeks later. Rumors allege debts to local creditors and loss of a West Side Post Office substation license. He belonged to the Eighth Ward Republican Club and benefited from George Decker’s influence. P. M. Martin ONeill, 28, was hit on the head by a monkey wrench thrown by an unknown assailant at noon yesterday in the Blue Pront Stables at Seventh and Henderson streets. He suffered a deep cut on the right scalp, was treated at City Hospital, and refused to remain admitted.

St Peter's College on Grand Street between Warren and Van Vorst opens for another term on Monday September 9. The Jesuit founded institution, established in 1873, offers business and law with medical, collegiate and graduate departments. A man about 43 years old was found in Newark Bay at Lembéck avenue by crabber William O'Brien. He towed the body ashore, notified police, and it was sent to Speer's morgue. He wore a striped shirt and jumper, weighed about 180 pounds, with brown hair. Police deem the case likely an accidental drowning.

Sheriff Ruempler returned this morning from Mount Marion Ulster County New York where his family is spending the summer. He will stay at his desk until Under Sheriff John Heavey who is due to start Thursday returns from the Pan American Exposition.

Thoman Macken of Hancock avenue fell while alighting a Summit avenue line trolley at Summit avenue and Bleecker street Saturday night and sustained severe injuries. He was taken home by a passerby.

Joseph Savage twenty all years old of No 4 Germanis Avert was struck by a passenger train while working on the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks near Marton station Saturday afternoon. He sustained a compound fracture of the right arm and a head injury and was taken to Christ Hospital.
The group Ye Rocky Moore Ad abelavien held their annual river rice excursion yesterday. Despite poor legibility the report notes four hundred people attended. Attendees assembled near Wyretock and proceeded along Morris wheat, returning home satisfied with the trip.
