Held for atrocious assault after Grand Street quarrel

Accused of Kidnapping Extradited to Stand Trial

Elasheth Hartman, a woman described as colored, was extradited to New York to face kidnapping charges involving Margaret Thompson’s baby. Detective Sergeant Mannning of the NYPD secured the papers, and Hartman will stand trial in New York as Thompson’s child was found missing from Henderson Street after weeks of searching in New York and Brooklyn’s Negro quarters. Belmont Avenue was cited regarding the Hartman man who allegedly directed the abduction.
