U S Baptists Back Japan Aid Amid Political Change
Dr J H Scott of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society returning from furlough cites Japan’s clash of progressives and militarists. A million and a half dollars is planned for Japan by Baptists through 1924, including 200 000 for Mabie Memorial School and 400 000 for a Christian college in Yokohama. Most funds fund education with 90000 for church buildings. Scott predicts autocracy waning under young, educated Christians and says missionary work aids peace and a modern, freer Japan that leads in commerce and culture.
