Judge John M. Paris of Floyd Circuit Court commends Supt. G A H Shideler and his officers for promptly accepting and safely holding Charles A. Pearson. The note says cooperation helped avoid a lynching and spared the county and state from disgrace.
The try-out to select the school’s representative for the State contest was held Friday afternoon. Martin Nastell, a senior, won. Competitors were Albert Miranda and James Duffy, both sophomores. The topic was the Railroad Question. Judges were Miss Mary Voigt, Miss Maud Craig, and P. T. Clark. A county contest follows next Friday with all county high schools represented.
