A bill to end distributing trading stamps in Indiana awaits the governor’s signature. It passed 84 to 4 in the Senate and 78 to 7 in the House, requiring every person firm or corporation handling stamps to pay a 1000 dollar annual license. Senator M C Thornton argues the fee will curb unfair competition while opponents say it raises costs and harms buyers and merchants.

Jurors were impaneled in the U S Court at Indianapolis to try Dean M Rebets and others charged with conspiring to defraud the federal government by corrupting the November 3, 1914 election in Terre Haute. The venire included several local farmers and school board member Wilmer Schwaninger of the City School Board.
The jury panel faced extensive questioning and the defense used nine of its challenges while the government used one. Counsel Tallies hinted at possible tampering as jurors stated no contact or mail influenced their judgment before the indictment was read and the session adjourned.
Harris Stil, at large, was last seen near Port Fulton as authorities in Indiana intensified efforts to capture him. A suit of clothing linked to Stil was found in an alley behind the Reformatory, taken from Guy Moore, a former cook who worked with Stil, as patrols and tips increased.

Havana announces a heavyweight championship bout between Jack Johnson and Jess Willard set for April 8. Promoter Jack Cuiley will lead, with Richard Kiezin as managing director. Site not yet chosen. Johnson began training, Willard to train in Marion.
Mr and Mrs William Prinz hosted the Pris cia Embroidery Club on East Marte street for its third anniversary last night. The green and white decor carried through to the refreshments with souvenir shamrocks. Mrs Arthur Perry won first prize and Mrs Alvin Mullen took second in a contest.

Vice Admiral Sackville H. Carlen reports March 6 operations against Forts Hamitieh Tabia and Hami- Veh with Queen Elizabeth leading battleships and support ships firing across the Gallipoli Strait at 21 990 yards. Forts V and V are armed with multiple 14 inch and 4 inch guns while inner batteries at F and E faced French and British warships. The Queen Elizabeth endured three field-gun shells with no damage. Other batteries at Souzin Dere Mt Dardznus and Ft Rumi Mejidiel Tabia engaged. 12 inch shells hit Fort Tabia. Overall most ships were struck but no serious damage or casualties occurred.
On March 7 the weather cleared as four French battleships Gaulois Charlemagne Bouvet and Suffren entered the straits to support direct bombardment of narrows defenses by the Agamemnon and Lord Nelson. They silenced the Mt Dardanus battery and other concealed guns as the two battle cruisers engaged forts at 14000 to 12000 yards.
