Staged Spain Abduction Plot Unmasked By Diplomat Hero
An ambassador recounts a perilous Madrid mystery in which Alfonso XIII was allegedly abducted during a staged illness. Disguised as an English doctor, the diplomat unravels the scheme, exposes the cook Gomez, and recovers the boy with aid from Queen Christina and the prime minister. The tale ends with royal thanks and a vanished ring as proof of the daring rescue.
