Dr. Brougher’s Temple in Los Angeles opened on Sunday to thousands waiting in the streets. Doors closed to prevent crowding and danger from panic. The services drew America’s largest church audience, reflecting the high regard for Brougher’s Chautauqua speech last summer in New York.
A three representative body of the Brotherhoods of the Reformed churches in Louisville is expected to attend this evening at St Luke's Reformed Church following a Federated organization meeting. About 100 Leon Rs attendees are noted.

An inquest led by Magistrate Benson R. Veasey and doctors declared Benjamin Reschar insane after a head injury. A commitment for treatment will be sought, noting prior head trauma.
The East St. Louis Bridge Company began construction on a new bridge across Muddy Fork at Speed after securing the contract from the Board of County Commissioners. A temporary structure is in use during the building of the permanent span.
Dalton known locally as a clever lightweight meets Andy Bezenah from Cincinnati in a ten round feature at Howard Park arena Monday night. Bezenah praised as a whirlwind fighter with a quick punch disguising a sleeping potion, Dalton equally clever and clean in the ring. The Howard Park ring and clubhouse have recently been enlarged and remodeled with several hours of work.
Clark County real estate improvements and personal property taxes rise by about three percent this year. The increase, estimated at over 360 dollars per property, may change after State Board of Tax Commissioners hearing on July 25. Last year totals show net taxables at 10,796,520 excluding corporations. this year 11,412,900 with mortgage exemptions 337,505, a net gain of 298,645.
Summons served on Chloe E. Mitchell an inmate of the Indiana Reformatory to appear in Vanderburgh Circuit Court Evansville on July 31 to answer a divorce suit filed by Rosa Mitchell.
Washington July 23 further tests of the Isham high explosive fuse for navy shells will be made soon by naval boards appointed eight months ago to determine its value. The fuse was controversial in Congress and a special board headed by Rear Admiral Fiske conducts the tests. Secretary Daniels approved improvements and new fuses to be made. Navy officers see possible development in the Isham concept.
New York July 28 Attorneys for Charles Becker former Police Lieutenant awaiting execution for instigating the murder of gambler Herman Rosenthal say they are not discouraged by Governor Whitman's statement that there is nothing new in his appeal. Jack Rose chief witness against Becker insists he told the truth on the stand and will not recant though life has been threatened. Rose vows Becker will not prevail in the death sentence.
Mrs Charles Smith and her children of Indianapolis will return home tomorrow after a three weeks visit with her sisters, the Misses Kate and Sal He Walkup.

The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled in favor of shippers from Louisville and points north against the Indianapolis and Louisville Traction line. The order requires dividing through rates into divisions from Indianapolis to Seymour, Seymour to Sellersburg, and Sellersburg to Louisville with joint rates prorated by mileage. Minimum divisions are set at 20 percent for the Interstate Public Service Company and similar minimums for Louisville entities.
Funeral services for Eleanor Thackrra daughter of General Sherman and wife of the American Consul General were held at St Honore d Eylau Paris. The French government city of Paris and foreign consulates attended. Ambassador Sharp led the American delegation with mission wreaths from Serbian wounded soldiers aided by Mrs Thackrra.

Company M of the Third Regiment Indiana National Guard prepares for the annual encampment at Fort Benjamin Harrison near Indianapolis. About twelve companies plus the signal corps will train, with rifle practice at the government range. State competition on August 25 will select thirty men from each regiment and fifteen from the battalion. Captain L A Douglass of Company M will serve on the initial general court martial for rule violations. Sergeant Thomas P Knowland is noted as a top marksman in the area.
Deputy Auditor W. M. Denniston in Bedford Indiana used a bell hung in a shade tree to frighten a flock of black birds that roost there nightly. The bell rang from his porch drove birds away for several nights but now flocks return to the trees when the bell is rung.
