Nelson Scott six years old of Midway near the city died last night after a sudden illness from cerebral spinal meningitis. John Jenkins ten, of Mechanic street, is another case. the Stemler family nearby also afflicted. Health officials urge vigilance to curb this feared illness which ends fatally in most cases.
Reports from the state indicate Company M First Regiment Indiana National Guard defeated Seymour in the life shoot, ranking sixth of twelve for the Peters Trophy. Company D Second Infantry Indianapolis won with 694, Ft Harrison Rifle Club Terre Haute 680 second, others below 601. injury to Sergeant Thomas P. Knowland kept him from competing.
Leslie Land Co of Leslie Arkansas lists 60 acres of agricultural land and 80 acres of improved grain fruit stock farm for sale at price $600. Advertisement notes potential buyers to inquire locally.
In police court this morning George Campbell was fined for assault and battery on his wife. George Bowman received a $5 fine for assaulting Jim McMahon after a free for all at the McMahon home on East Court avenue, allegedly wielding an axe. E. W. McClellan and George Ballard were fined $1 and costs for causing a disturbance. both were ordered to leave the city after arrests in the west end.
A bill by Senator Floyd Parks proposes a state bureau of criminal identification at the Indiana Reformatory. It requires sheriffs and certain peace officers to forward crime records for centralized keeping. The reformatory already operates a fingerprint system used by state institutions and the U S Army. Ray Campbell heads the current bureau, praised as efficient and expert in identification methods.

Robert Turner known as Turkey Bob, once living on Mulberry Street, was arrested after a bag containing six hens and two turkeys was found. He had prior convictions for chicken stealing in Clark Circuit Court and was sent to Michigan City Prison before a pardon. He has been moved to the Kentucky State Reformatory for the same offense.

The Clan MacNaughton is missing with 180 onward feared lost. Berlin confirms Przanysz fall to German forces and prisoner tally.
Prosecuting Attorney Warren Allison sues Magistrate James H. Weir. Judge Fortune sustains demurrers to the first and second paragraphs of the complaint, effectively dismissing the case unless further proceedings are instituted against Weir.
Two suits on account against former Magistrate Oscar L. Hay were heard this morning by Jude James W. Tertiner in the Clark Circuit Court. The cases claim accounts dating from Hay’s restaurant on West Court Avenue for meat and cigars supplied to Sidney Spier.

John Kelly, plaintiff in a divorce action against Nora Kelly, filed a response to the rule of court showing he could not pay five dollars for her attorney’s fee. Kelly was acquitted of manslaughter in the death of Albert Bare near Bethlehem last October.
