John J. Weber, born May 24, 1828 in Germany, died yesterday near Sellersburg after senility. He arrived in America as a young man and naturalized in 1852 and 1859. He leaves two sons John G. Weber and William Weber and two daughters Mrs. Walter Schmidt and Mrs. Winner. Funeral services were held at 2:56 this afternoon.
Six candidates compete for the Borden postmaster position. A civil service exam will be held in Salem on February 23. Harry Bellows, current postmaster, has been drafted into the army and will serve in Clark county's first quota. His wife is Clara Scheer of this city.

In police court this morning Ethel Tedge sock and Rosa Smith were ordered to leave the city and given until Monday to depart following their arrest during a Maiden lane house raid on Wednesday night. The raid on the Stauss Hotel room yielded substantial equipment. four men’s cases were continued to Saturday February 25 before Special Judge McKillip and Mayor Myers.
Several hundred Jeffersonville workers returning from Louisville were delayed by an incident at the aterurban depot area. A 30 car train with a trailer left the track near Third Street, backing into an alley and blocking the line for over an hour while efforts were made to remount the trailer onto the rails. Concerns were raised about light closed trailers and their safety on the line.

A monument erected in 1889 at Hommonji Temple Ikegami near Yokohama to honor thirty American sailors who drowned when the Oneida foundered in a January 1880 storm has been repaired.
