Seymour Ind Dec 30 A 13 year old boy identified as Stanley Heycock was hunting with his father when the firearm discharged striking the boy’s right hand. The blast severed the hand as the boy attempted to pick up the gun after his father laid it down.
Birney K. Stoner, who left three years ago to teach in Auburn Illinois, is home for the holidays with his wife and three children. He is visiting relatives in this county and in Scott county. Yesterday he stayed with his cousin George W. Stoner County Auditor and family in the city.
A small fire broke out yesterday evening at the home of Clarence F. Kestler 4290 East Seventh Street when a Christmas tree ignited. Fire units were dispatched to handle the incident.
Mrs. Kate Howard Baird, mother of Capt. Lewis C. Baird, died in Los Angeles at 6 20 this morning after a long illness tied to diabetes. She was born August 22 1846 in Springfield Kentucky and married William Baird in Bowling Green Kentucky in 1868. She resided much of her life in Jeffersonville and had ties to the Howard shipyards. Her remains will be brought here for interment, with funeral plans pending arrival.
John Beutel a longtime Claysburg resident born September 12 1837 Westmoreland County Pennsylvania died at 3 15 PM Tuesday after a several month illness from diabetes He served in the Third Kentucky Cavalry during the Civil War and founded Der Beobachter first German paper in Louisville He is survived by a wife Caroline Schlemmer a son Phip Beutel and three daughters Mrs A J Phipps Mrs Jacob Kendll and Miss Emma Beutel Funeral plans set for Friday at 2 PM from his Claysburg home with Rev F E Lahr presiding

Wilber Penton, a parole violator, was returned from Marion County by State Agent George B. Parks. He previously served five to fourteen years for robbery and ten to twenty years for burglary, with a parole issued by Governor Ralston on January 6, 1914.
Funeral services for Julius Louis, who died at his Me chanic street home yesterday morning, will be held Thursday at 2 30 PM at the family residence. Burial will be private in Walnut Ridge cemetery.

Information reached this city of the death of Benjamin F. Amick a prosperous farmer at his Oregon Township home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o clock. He was about sixty and well known in Clay county. He was a son of the late Riley and Mrs. Amick and married Dora Bottoriff. Fourteen children were born. five are dead and the survivors with their mother are Pert Will Harry Frank Ernest Erlie Archie Amick Rose Huston and a single daughter. Burial will be in New Market cemetery.
Funeral services for Mrs Lulla Carter wife of Clarence Carter of 122 High Street Port Fulton will be held at 10 o clock Thursday morning at St Anthony's church. Interment will follow in the Catholic cemetery.
