Bought Trucks Despite Surplus Contract Cancellation
Washington D C special reports a congressional inquiry into war expenditures showing the Wilson administration bought three ton military trucks beyond need to use left over appropriations. An August 1918 order cost 5610 dollars per truck, canceled November 7 1918 with damages of 286947 98. A December 1918 re contract for seventy five trucks totaled 733195 68 with wheel changes adding 89 dollars per truck. The purchases were disapproved by Colonel Nobie and Quartermaster General Rogers noted the money came from a war time fund expiring June 30 1929.
