Three youths held in Atlanta hit and run death
A six mile chase ended with three Vivian La youths James Webb 15 TC Bryan 14 and Ernest Matthews 15 detained by Cass County officials for a fatal hit and run on Shreveport Highway near the Atlanta city line. The unidentified victim, about 60 to 63, died at Ellington Memorial Hospital about an hour after the collision. The driver Webb's father owned the 1941 Ford used in the crash. Sheriff Jim Wells aids investigation.

Navy Sets Dec 10 for Annual NROTC Exam
The tenth annual competitive exam for high school seniors seeking college training for Naval officers will be held nationwide on December 10. Applications must be received by November 19. Qualified candidates face a midshipman physical next February, with about 18 1/4 selected for appointment. Navy funds tuition and related costs. training includes summers with the fleet and a $600 annual retainer before commissioning. Open to enlisted personnel under separate quotas.
