Dean Morrison vice president of the First National Bank of Jefferson will graduate Friday night with others from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. Morrison joined the local bank in February after leaving The Longview National Bank and previously owned Morrison's Food Store in White Oak.
Jefferson High School coaches Max Wade Don Mraz Ken Andrus and Phoney Harrell travel to Dallas for the Texas High School Coaches School. They attend lectures clinics and all star games Wednesday and Thursday with a South vs North all star basketball game Wednesday and a football game Thursday in the Cotton Bowl. The South leads basketball series six straight wins led by Tommy Jones Crane and Bobby Weise of Conroe. the North counters with Jake Carter and Truman Nix. The Dallas football game marks another North win streak goal while Joe Wylie eyes defense for Henderson. Attendance records cite 39100 in 1965 Dallas game and 8721 per son in 1965 Dallas basketball game.
The Jefferson Tennis Club offers four two hour lessons for children from August 9 to August 30. Instructors are Rev Tom Warring and Mrs Guy Smith. Sessions run 8 30 to 10 30 a m each Saturday with a 5 00 fee. Contact Rev Warring or Mrs Allen Burt. Courts stay open until noon for practice after lessons.
The Youth led revival at First Baptist Church Jefferson continues nightly at 7:30 led by Ron Churchill with Charles Paschall and Elaine Collins assisting. The revival runs through Sunday August 10 and has drawn strong interest among youths and adults.
Jefferson High School coach Max Wade announces a meeting for boys in grades nine through twelve to plan football for the fall. Attendees will receive shoes and shorts. first workouts start Monday August 18 with two a day sessions to be announced at the August 13 meeting.
