The fourth plank calls for equal taxation on all property at real value including government bonds. It warns Congress already removed taxes from many items and predicts broad levies on farms, homes, livestock, grain, tools, clothing, food, and household goods if Democrats gain power.
The Muscatine Journal notes Delmar’s Biatistics of the United States drew fierce political reaction. Secretary McQuilough audits reveal omissions of cash balances and misstatements on receipts and expenditures, challenging Delmar’s credibility amid copperhead criticism.

County Superintendent Hutchison led sessions as teachers from several counties discussed texts, exams, and resolutions promoting teacher duties and textbook uniformity. The institute adjourned after addresses by Superintendent Bishop amid wet weather.
The proclamation sets November 3 1868 as the general election date across Iowa. It lists electors for President and Vice President eight electors with districts, and state officials including Secretary of State Auditor Treasurer and others.
