Dolor and Imagination in a Greene County Reverie
The excerpt humorously contrasts Dolor with imagination as the author vents playful reflections on Byron, Don Juan, and Jefferson. A Greene County Fourth of July celebration is recounted with a sunrise through the prairie, a ribald rabbit mishap, a fife and drum procession, and speeches by Judge Price and A. R. Mills, followed by dinner.
