1781 Siege and Kate Heath Heroine in Carolina
An 1781 narrative combines a Civil War vignette with a key scene: Lord Rawdon and British troops plan a bold attack near Ninety Six as Kate Heath helps Greene’s patriots. Kate rides out in disguise with her horse Selim to aid Greene, escapes pursuit, and later is praised by Greene for thwarting the British move. The piece interleaves this tale with broad historical observations on early American frontier life, agriculture, and religious denominations.
