Two Killed in Missouri Traffic Crashes
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports at least two deaths in crashes on Thursday. Charles A. Riner, 77, of Buckner died in a collision with a tractor trailer on U.S. 24 in Jackson County near Route H. Terry Duane Johnson, 13, of Kansas City died when a tar wagon overturned on Route J in Cass County, three miles south of Route 58. In Callaway County, David L. Gleave, 18, and Larry C. Hughes, 22, were injured when their car collided with another vehicle at the U.S. 63 and U.S. 4 junction.

Education assistant appointed in Missouri
Henry Givens Jr. of St. Louis was named assistant commissioner for urban education by the Missouri State Board of Education. He will form an urban education committee and lead efforts with state colleges, universities, districts, and agencies. The board approved a 1974-75 budget of 549 million dollars, with 103 million in federal funds and a 31 million increase in basic state aid to districts.
