Youngster Struck by Truck at City Intersection

An unnamed boy riding a bicycle was struck by a truck today at Rast McCarty and Chestnut streets. Police identified the driver as Jackie Bale Rommel, 23, of Holts Summit. Rommel said the boy ran between the truck and curb during his right turn. the boy appeared uninjured and left prior to officers' arrival.

Russellville PTA Backs School Referendum Plan

The Russellville PTA endorsed Referendums Nos. 1 and 2 at a special meeting. James Patrick of Jefferson City spoke on the two propositions discussing changes in state school aid distribution. Columbia Man Dies In Quarry Accident

Agl8 Shewart, 48, of near Columbia, died in a quarry accident yesterday afternoon. He was fatally struck when a Caterpillar tractor driver, his son Franklin Stewart, reportedly caused the vehicle to run off the road and roll eight times into a creek bed 15 feet below. Stewart lived between Hallsville and Sturgeon northeast of Columbia. The death is not listed in state highway fatality records, as the incident occurred on private property at the R Charrett quarry.
