Jesse Henry Noted State Historian Dies in St Louis
Jesse P Henry 50 of St Louis former Jefferson City resident died Tuesday afternoon at 379 North Taylor Avenue after a sudden heart illness. He was a partner in a St Louis insurance firm and credited with saving the Eugene Field house and Campbell home as historical shrines. A gifted amateur musician and artist, he helped preserve the 1850s furnishings in the Eugene Field birthplace and aided saving Mrs Field’s Wisconsin home. Henry also supported saving the Campbell mansion at 1308 Locust Street and was urged by the William Clark Society to lead that effort. He left Jefferson City as a young man, but his family remained active in local history matters. Continued on page 10.
