McKittrick outlined a push to collect local taxes noting the state and his office lack funds to guarantee court costs in St. Louis where about 20 000 tax cases will be filed this year. He said $47,787 was collected in St. Louis by settling 1 041 old suits. 16 721 of the five year cases and 4 100 1936 delinquencies remain. In Kansas City $5 920 was collected by settling 1 331 cases. 4 024 old suits and 1 500 1936 cases still to be disposed of. In Buchanan county 872 cases were certified to the attorney general for collection.
Greene county reported 2308 delinquent income tax payers with 57 paying $461 to settle with the state. Cole county had 457 delinquents, 109 paid $1,260 to settle, Boone county 89 delinquents with 34 paying $612, and Adair county six delinquents with three settling for $10.74 total.
