Mrs Markway Dead At Home In Wardsville

Mrs Catherine Markway 77 mother of Assistant Chief Ben Markway and Cole county Collector Al Markway died last night at her Wardsville home after a fall on September 3 last year which left her with a broken hip and long illness.

Death Notice of Mrs. Markway of Taos to Wardsville

Bedfast. Her death was attributed to pneumonia. Born at Taos October 25 1861 she married Fred M. Markway August 10 1880. Lifelong resident of Taos and Wardsville she was active in St Stanislaus church and the Married Ladies Sodarity. Surviving are her husband ten children and many grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St Stanislaus church Sunday at 10 o'clock.

In a presentation at the International Cancer Congress, Drs. Pfeiffer and Miley described using frostlike copper sulfate crystals formed with blood to differentiate cancerous from healthy blood. Analyses of 1,500 samples showed 36 percent accuracy for cancer detection and near zero for non cancer, with liver trouble causing failures. Mouse testing indicated cancer could be flagged two to six weeks earlier, with patterns differing by cancer type and malignancy stage.

INDIANAPOLIS Thos Shaw a 1 negro tried to win a tavern jitterbug contest but went bust dancing so hard he dislocated his right knee. He needed City hospital treatment and missed the contest’s end. Publicity COLORADO SPRINGS Roy Howerton planned a wagon stunt but the team ran away, unseating Howerton as the wagon circled a circular parking area. Oklahoma City Highway Patrolman Clark booked two drunken driving cases in the same car. Minneapolis Cop confronted a driver with a fire in the car as he wrote a ticket then lifted a warning after noting the back of the car was on fire.

Restore Service After Power Plant Dispute

President W B Head reported no new negotiations after yesterday as union and non union workers faced interruptions at plants. Deputies and guards maintained vigilance while short circuits and ropes disrupted lines. Clinton plant found foreign substance in turbine oil, causing bearings to burn out. 3009 kilowatts will be repaired. Union leader Ervin Wilson urged peaceful intentions and denied sabotage.

25 Bodies Recovered From Squalus Hold After Salvage

Portsmouth officials revealed 25 bodies found in the Squalus hold after 115 days entombed in the damaged submarine. A possible missing man may have been lost through an open hatch during salvage. Alfred Priester of Roseland, S. L., identified tentatively among the dead. Lt. Cmdr. Charles B. Momsen noted the likely rapid deaths of those aboard, as doctors and forensics worked through the night to identify victims.
