Three Local Boys Listed On Tiger Varsity Roster

Jefferson City fans learn three local youths Noel Hall Jim Ivens and Sonny Ott are on the Missouri University football varsity roster for fall. Hall and Ott starred for the Sr High champion Jays last year while Ivens and Owens loom as possible contributors as freshmen backs and line players. Sam Clevenger son of Grover C Clevenger also joins the varsity as a sophomore with prior Jr High experience.

Lettermen Back Clear Sailing for Sooners With Lend Lease Sailors

Norman Oklahoma September 12 AP Its clear sailing ahead for Oklahoma Sooners in the Big Six if coach Dewey Luster is right. With Derald Lebow as a leading back and ten other lettermen including Bob Mayfield and Dub Wooten, Oklahoma eyes a strong season even as navy lend lease players join the squad. World Series Film To Be Shipped Overseas For Servicemen

American League promotional director Lew Fonseca announced the World Series will be filmed by a three cameraman crew and sent to servicemen worldwide. The project aims to cover the October 4 opener in St Louis and may conclude in St Louis New York Detroit or Boston. CHICAGO Sept 12 AP The Illinois State Athletic Commission bans fighters who have suffered brain concussions from boxing and bars KO blows to the head from fighting for six weeks. Six boxers are affected by the new rule.
