Wilcoxen Welcome Baby Girl In Six Pound Birth

Round the town items report Mr and Mrs EB Wilcoxen welcomed a six pound baby girl born Monday September 6 Mrs Wilcoxen formerly Lucy Nicols of Ashland Missouri. Other notes include visits shopping trips and travels by local residents and a dancing recital at the Junior College auditorium with about 45 participants.

Stock market reverses after sharp rally and drop

A brisk early rally gave way to a pronounced downturn with many active issues cutting gains and some high priced stocks retreating. Call money remained ample at 8 percent as investors awaited mid month payments amid mixed factory data and continuing steel and copper concerns.

Young Mother and Baby Burned Under Auto

An 18-year-old mother Nellie Ayres of Paola Kas and her 1-year old Aarold Lloyd were fatally burned when a car crashed into a ditch near Olathe Kas after the driver lost control. Two other occupants Elsie Bibens and Annie Bibens were severely burned and hospitalized. The baby died at the scene and Mrs Ayres died later in a Kansas City hospital.

Lawrence Kansas Has Jinxed Football Star

Lawrence Kansas Sept 12 Rost a 205 pound sophomore guard at the University of Kansas has become the prize jinx of the KU football squad. Two weeks ago he suffered a severe poison ivy attack and is just recovering. Yesterday he was in a fraternity house scuffle and a large gash was cut on his head.

Electric method to convert wild gas into fuel

University of Minnesota chemists Prof. C Lind and Dr. George Glockler demonstrated an electrical process to convert gas escaping from oil wells into gasoline or oil. The method eliminates the need for fire or heat, using electricity to transform the gas at ambient temperature.

Three Men Die In Airplane Crash Near Mills Field

Three men were burned to death when a plane spiraled from a low altitude at Mills Field San Francisco and burst into flames on impact. Albert J. Hanzl of San Francisco was the pilot and passengers were Robert Parker and Walter Nelson, both San Francisco automobile salesmen.

Crop year prompts record enrollment at Missouri College of Agriculture

Missouri College of Agriculture reports a 48 percent rise in new students this fall with 145 freshmen on first registration day. Dean F B Mumford notes the drought and crop losses drive the surge, straining facilities and staffing as about 25 agriculture students aid corn borer scouting in the east.
