IREFORMATORY YOUTH FATALLY SHOT IN CHASE NEAR HQ
Charles Passwater, 16, a fugitive from the Iowa reformatory, was fatally shot by Patrolman Lester Trelford near police headquarters after a pursuit during which he exchanged gunfire with officers. Bystander Angelo Genoni, 21, was seriously wounded. Passwater died after surgery. Passwater claimed Eldora, Iowa, as his home and said he had escaped a week earlier.
